My Christmas Shopping Plan

(Source: http://www.cv-surgeon.co.uk/blog/top-five-christmas-presents-for-your-boss)
Christmas is over. Yay! (Oh you know I'm not the only one YAY'ing right now!)

But anyway, that just means that tax time is quickly approaching so I thought I'd share some of our tax time plans.

PAY OFF CREDIT CARDS!

Only to turn around and fill em up again.

The plan is to Christmas shop slowly using the credit cards so that come Christmas time we're not financially hurting and freaking out worrying about Fin having more than Maddie or Maddie having more than Fin and this Christmas Baby Owen will be old enough to sort of understand presents a bit better. (He just loved playing with the wrapping paper. He's silly but cute) and not going, "oh. Sorry, Santa must have forgotten" because "Santa" forgot about a certain present that was wanted until it was too late and they were sold out. Oops.

With the kids' birthdays being in August, October and November Christmas shopping seems less stressful if I spread it out over the entire year.

Makes total sense right?! Right!

I'm probably honestly going to do most of it online.
That way I don't have to stress about anyone seeing their presents or hear them asking a million times who it's for. (Maddie did this LOTS and I'd tell her they were for a little girl in Fin's class. Haha)
It'll just all come in the mail and I'll just hide it in the closet until closer to Christmas. Maybe even birthday shop this way! OH and I can order stuff for David, who ALWAYS ALWAYS knows what he's getting for his birthday and for Christmas. He cheats and peeks. It's ridiculously hard to hide/keep things from him). But if I just order from somewhere like www.pricegrabber.com, I can just say that it's for the kids' birthdays or Christmas and he won't be the wiser. I'm a genius.

So that is my plan. Hopefully I can stick to it! How do you shop for holidays? Does your spouse cheat and peek?

Amazon is my friend during fall. Thats when i shop. I make a list, and we never get them more than 2 gifts from us and one from Santa. I also space out the shopping, one kid each paycheck. It works for us!

I just shop. This was the first year I wasn't done by the beginning of October and didn't do any shopping online. I also followed their lists this year, so they got what I thought was considerably less (since I wasn't being el-cheapo), but they were just as happy. Some went on credit cards this year, but generally nothing goes on my credit cards for birthdays or holidays.

You could just put a certain amount away for the next few months and start your shopping early, with that Christmas money, around August or so :) I didn't spend more than $100 on Christmas presents this year because my son was getting presents from everyone else. PLUS, these kids get A LOT during the year already! I like Rachels suggestion, also. One check a kid! Thats a pretty good idea

we got a lot of presents on amazon this year - at least for the guys. I shopped a few months before for others when I saw things on clearance/good deals!
