Things I thought I would never say...

As a mom of three, I've accumulated quite a list of things I honestly thought I would NEVER say. I know we've ALL had those moments where you say something and think, "Oh my gosh.... I never thought I would actually have to say that". So I thought I would share a few of mine....

1. No you can not have ice cream for breakfast!
2. DUDE!! You are bigger than the dog!! Push her down!!
3. DO NOT PUT THOSE IN YOUR DIAPER!! A diaper is NOT a pocket!! OH MY GOSH!!!
4. NO!! Do not put your finger in my ear!! That's gross!!
5. It isn't the end of the world because Scooby Doo took a commercial break!! He'll be right back! I promise!!
6. Do we REALLY have to carry the blanket, new cat, cat and the sippie in with us?!
7. How am I supposed to hang a blanket from the ceiling?!
8. Sweetie, you can't fit a horse in a car.
9. Tickley blankets do not belong in your underwear.
10. Don't put your fork on my laptop!
11. No, forks are not hats.
12. I can't control the radio station. I don't get to play "call me maybe" just because you want to hear it, baby.
13. Don't share your milk with Bo! He really doesn't want it in his water dish.
14. GET OFF THE FENCE! You can't climb over to go play in Kathrine's yard!
15. Oh my gosh, you can NOT keep a dead worm as a pet. Throw it over the fence!
16. No, I didn't get you anything! I didn't go somewhere. I don't go somewhere every time I drop you off.
17. You could just ask me to get the cereal down for you, you don't have to actually climb up every shelf in the pantry.
19. What does "NO" mean?! Then why do you KEEP ASKING?!
21. Don't eat the table... eat your food!

What are some things you thought you'd never say?

JELL-O fun!

This past weekend we had some friends (with kids) over for dinner and I thought it would be fun to make them little desserts. The kids and I whipped up some MMMMonster JIGGLERS and let me just tell you, not as easy as you'd think! Thankfully the kids aren't picky and still loved the "monster jellos" we made and their friend, Johnny did also! Phew. I got mom points for it but in my eyes, they were just not as good as they could/should have turned out.

They're SO easy to make too.
If you don't wanna read my version, click HERE for the real JELL-O version.
Otherwise, here you go...

You'll need:

1-2/3 cups boiling water, divided
1 pkg. (3 oz.) JELL-O Lime Flavor Gelatin
1/4 cup (1/2 of 3-oz. pkg.) JELL-O Grape Flavor Gelatin (I used Black raspberry because our store didn't have grape)
32 pieces red string licorice (1/2 inch)
1 tube black decorating gel. (I used purple, our store was out of black)

  • Spray 24 (1-oz.) plastic shot glasses with cooking spray. Add 1-1/3 cups boiling water to lime gelatin mix in medium bowl; stir 2 min. until completely dissolved. (Do not add cold water.) Refrigerate 12 to 15 min. or until slightly thickened.
  • Add remaining 1/3 cup boiling water to grape gelatin mix in small bowl; stir 2 min. until completely dissolved. Spoon about 1-1/4 tsp. into each shot glass. Let set 5 min.
  • Spoon lime gelatin over grape gelatin in glasses. Refrigerate 3 hours or until firm.
  • Unmold JIGGLERS onto tray just before serving. Insert 2 licorice pieces into opposite sides of JIGGLERS for the neck bolts. Decorate with gel to resemble monsters as shown in photo.

Now doesn't that just sound super simple?!
Here's ours.  HA!

Fin was SUPER excited to help out! Usually he misses out on all the fun because he's at school.

Poor creepy JELL-O JIGGLER monster.

Thankfully my cuties don't care that his face slide down before they got to eat him.

Do you see Fin picking the top of his poor head off?!

I considered making some of these for Maddie's snack day but after seeing how mine turn out, I might try something easier instead, like the Halloween JIGGLERS hands!  They seem pretty fool proof!

Also, be sure to check out my Halloween Pinterest board for more Halloween Decorations That Will Spook.

Either way though, my kids loved helping make them and definitely loved eating them.

Mini tip: Substitute boiling tonic water for half of the tap water. The quinine in the tonic water will illuminate the JIGGLERS under black florescent party lights to get your JIGGLERS to glow in the dark!

The one on which I ramble about fashion budgets.

Top: target.  Boots: target.  Jeans: Forever21 {bday gift last year}. Hat: ebay. Scarf: H&M in France {gift from little sis}

Hey hey there! Today's the day that I talk to you a bit about my fashion sense/budgeting it in.
I am FAR from a fashion blogger, I just like to occassionally ramble to you guys and share some outfits with you.
My friend, Chelsea said it best when she said she can get away with wrinkles in her clothing because she's not a fashion blogger, she's a personal style blogger!
Anyway, most fashion bloggers I read buy trendy stuff, aka expensive stuff. Me however, I'm a cheap shopper.  I hate paying full price for anything. I'm a huge sales shopper and I love thrift stores but even they can be overpriced in my eyes.
The most expensive part of this outfit are the boots. I'm still in shock that I paid $35 for them. (I did have a $10 Target gift card though, making them $25)

Weekends are for fun!

Happy Monday! Our weekend consisted of the Fall Festival at the kids' school, a house cleaning Saturday and friends over Sunday for dinner.

The kids are out of school today; it's parent teacher conference day! Wish me luck!

An interview with the most important woman in my life.

And by most important woman in my life, I mean Miss Maddie.

Maddie is four years old. She'll be five soon so I thought it was high time that you guys get to know her a bit better!
I tried to get a video interview for this but she gets really camera shy. Just ask anyone we've ever sent a "happy birthday" video too. They get lots of Fin yelling at them and Maddie giving them a death stare.

How old are you?

What is your favorite color?
Purple all of the colors, I mean!

What do you want to be when you grow up?
doctor! (said in a really deep tone) THAT'S ALWAYS WHAT I TELL YOU!

What is your favorite cartoon?

What is your favorite thing to do in the house?
Lay down

What is your favorite thing to do outside?

Play what?

What's your favorite kind of animal?
Bella .... and Roscoe (cat)

What's your favorite toy?
Monster High Dolls

What's your favorite drink?
Soda (that she never gets to drink)

What's your favorite food?

What's your favorite book?
My little pony

What's your favorite thing EVER?
you (said in that same deep annoyed tone) ..... just kidding, THIS! (Her new toy my friend, Jojo picked up for her. (It's a little magnetic dress up doll set).

Maddie is the best daughter I could've ever asked for. She knows and presses my every single button I didn't even know I had. She's loves to copy me and ask me to fix her hair if I'm doing mine but hates letting me do her hair otherwise.
She loves to help me cook, she loves to color and she loves her brothers. She's a momma's girl but loves her daddy just as much. She's impatient, throws fits, cries over the silliest of things and gets mad over the most ridiculous of things. There are more times than I can count that I've had to just remind myself that she's just a small 4 year old with an emotional personality and there are other times where I have to just step away from her to calm myself down. I'm so glad that we ended up with a little girl but also thankful that we only ended up with one little girl.

The great carving adventure of 2013

I am SO flippin' excited to share today's post with you! Halloween is hands down one of my favorite holidays (it's a family favorite really, the kids are just as crazy about it, David too)! I love to decorate the house inside and out! I love to carve pumpkins, especially with the kids! Back in September, David and Fin had already sat down and picked out everyone's pumpkin; mine was going to be the Starbucks symbol, Maddie's would be the Monster High symbol, Owen's would be Elmo, David's would be a pentagram and Fin's would be a stormtrooper! So much fun! It's always so funny watching the kids dig into the pumpkin. They were hesitant last year to actually get their hands dirty but this year was a lot messier and I loved every bit of it!

Pumpkin Masters was kind enough to send us some kits to work with this year and let me tell you, AMAZING! The shaving kit worked wonders on my pumpkin! The kids loved not having to share (we usually just buy one kit) and they especially loved the LED lights to put in their pumpkins! They traded back and forth all night with each other between the colored one and the white one.

Some things you should definitely know about Pumpkin Masters:

Pumpkin Masters is available at your local grocery, drug, or craft store, and nationally at Target and Walmart.
The kits provide the perfect economical activity for the family to enjoy together as well as an easier and safer carving experience than kitchen knives! (The kids used the carving kits and had NO issues with them).

Watch the video below for a sneak peak into how our carving night went!

AND Pumpkin Masters is hosting a contest via Instagram or Twitter (Use the hashtag #PumpkinMasters2013 when uploading your image). You can also upload it using the Facebook app or even just send an email to: social@pumpkinmasters.com
to enter for the chance to win one of six prizes, including $5,000 for the Best Pumpkin.
The contest runs from October 1 - 31, 2013.
Contest details and official rules: HERE.

AND AND AND Pumpkin Masters has so graciously offered one of you guys a kit of your own (Valued at $35).
Good luck!!

If you're ever in Columbus, Georgia.

This past Saturday, David, the kids, our friend Jojo and her kids all loaded up and headed downtown to the Columbus Museum for their Fall Festival.
It was a load of fun.

They had little mini costume contests (that were totally rigged- probably not really but the winners had dumb costumes!), a little scavenger hunt for the kids (a list of questions they had to answer by going through the museum and finding the paintings that matched the questions), little booths that the kids could decorate bags and win little prizes and fun kiddie stuff like that.
We had a good time.

Poor Jack didn't weigh enough to hold the chair down!
Maddie took a selfie!
This is where Owen whined and whined until I got him out of the stroller because he wanted to go into the cool tent thing and take a picture like the other kids did!
They're sharers!
This was during her little ballet spin while walking across the stage during the costume contest!

We also got to see the Andy Warhol exhibit which was pretty freakin' cool and it's only going to be at this museum for a bit longer, so I'm glad we caught it while we were there.

Point being, if you're ever in Columbus, Georgia, check out the museum of art.
