Tuesday.

I had a post scheduled for today.  I have NO idea what happened to it and I'm slightly annoyed by that, but today you're going to get overloaded with crappy Iphone pictures that David took of the kids while he took them trick or treating to include the selfie he took. HA!

Oh and they found a firetruck and they kids were so super excited to get to sit in it.

JELL-O fun!

This past weekend we had some friends (with kids) over for dinner and I thought it would be fun to make them little desserts. The kids and I whipped up some MMMMonster JIGGLERS and let me just tell you, not as easy as you'd think! Thankfully the kids aren't picky and still loved the "monster jellos" we made and their friend, Johnny did also! Phew. I got mom points for it but in my eyes, they were just not as good as they could/should have turned out.

They're SO easy to make too.
If you don't wanna read my version, click HERE for the real JELL-O version.
Otherwise, here you go...

You'll need:

1-2/3 cups boiling water, divided
1 pkg. (3 oz.) JELL-O Lime Flavor Gelatin
1/4 cup (1/2 of 3-oz. pkg.) JELL-O Grape Flavor Gelatin (I used Black raspberry because our store didn't have grape)
32 pieces red string licorice (1/2 inch)
1 tube black decorating gel. (I used purple, our store was out of black)

  • Spray 24 (1-oz.) plastic shot glasses with cooking spray. Add 1-1/3 cups boiling water to lime gelatin mix in medium bowl; stir 2 min. until completely dissolved. (Do not add cold water.) Refrigerate 12 to 15 min. or until slightly thickened.
  • Add remaining 1/3 cup boiling water to grape gelatin mix in small bowl; stir 2 min. until completely dissolved. Spoon about 1-1/4 tsp. into each shot glass. Let set 5 min.
  • Spoon lime gelatin over grape gelatin in glasses. Refrigerate 3 hours or until firm.
  • Unmold JIGGLERS onto tray just before serving. Insert 2 licorice pieces into opposite sides of JIGGLERS for the neck bolts. Decorate with gel to resemble monsters as shown in photo.

Now doesn't that just sound super simple?!
Here's ours.  HA!

Fin was SUPER excited to help out! Usually he misses out on all the fun because he's at school.

Poor creepy JELL-O JIGGLER monster.

Thankfully my cuties don't care that his face slide down before they got to eat him.

Do you see Fin picking the top of his poor head off?!

I considered making some of these for Maddie's snack day but after seeing how mine turn out, I might try something easier instead, like the Halloween JIGGLERS hands!  They seem pretty fool proof!

Also, be sure to check out my Halloween Pinterest board for more Halloween Decorations That Will Spook.

Either way though, my kids loved helping make them and definitely loved eating them.

Mini tip: Substitute boiling tonic water for half of the tap water. The quinine in the tonic water will illuminate the JIGGLERS under black florescent party lights to get your JIGGLERS to glow in the dark!

The great carving adventure of 2013

I am SO flippin' excited to share today's post with you! Halloween is hands down one of my favorite holidays (it's a family favorite really, the kids are just as crazy about it, David too)! I love to decorate the house inside and out! I love to carve pumpkins, especially with the kids! Back in September, David and Fin had already sat down and picked out everyone's pumpkin; mine was going to be the Starbucks symbol, Maddie's would be the Monster High symbol, Owen's would be Elmo, David's would be a pentagram and Fin's would be a stormtrooper! So much fun! It's always so funny watching the kids dig into the pumpkin. They were hesitant last year to actually get their hands dirty but this year was a lot messier and I loved every bit of it!

Pumpkin Masters was kind enough to send us some kits to work with this year and let me tell you, AMAZING! The shaving kit worked wonders on my pumpkin! The kids loved not having to share (we usually just buy one kit) and they especially loved the LED lights to put in their pumpkins! They traded back and forth all night with each other between the colored one and the white one.

Some things you should definitely know about Pumpkin Masters:

Pumpkin Masters is available at your local grocery, drug, or craft store, and nationally at Target and Walmart.
The kits provide the perfect economical activity for the family to enjoy together as well as an easier and safer carving experience than kitchen knives! (The kids used the carving kits and had NO issues with them).

Watch the video below for a sneak peak into how our carving night went!

AND Pumpkin Masters is hosting a contest via Instagram or Twitter (Use the hashtag #PumpkinMasters2013 when uploading your image). You can also upload it using the Facebook app or even just send an email to: [email protected]
to enter for the chance to win one of six prizes, including $5,000 for the Best Pumpkin.
The contest runs from October 1 - 31, 2013.

This is Madison

Hey I'm Madison. My blog was started to off my 'overly ambitious' self since I always start projects but never finish or fail miserably at the ones I do try. Craft projects and I just don't get along but I really do try! It's also where I like to be my usual, quirky, dorky self. Harry Potter, Pokemon, and internet memes are some of the things featured regularly on my blog. Hope you come stop by and geek out with me :)

My favorite thing about Halloween is totally the candy. This is our second year in our house so I'm excited to be able to pass out candy again. Previously we always lived in apartments so we never had anyone stop by(but we still bought a bucket's worth of candy for ourselves, of course!). Seeing all of the neighbor kids dress up in their cute costumes and say "trick or treat" is just the best thing ever.

Madison is a dork but in a good way! She's Harry Potter obsessed which I love and
she even has a little craft fail section. Check it out.
