My top ten tips for buying and selling on sale sites.

Craigslist, Bookoo, Facebook sales pages, etc etc.
You know what I'm talking about.
And if not, well..... wow.  Just wow.

ANYWAY...............

Today I thought I'd share with you guys a few things I've learned about buying and selling on sites like this.

1. Include EVERYTHING.
  • Where you got it.
  • When you got it.
  • The condition it's in.
  • How much you want for it.
  • Why you're getting rid of it.
  • Color.
  • Measurements.
  • Etc, etc etc.
2. Be prepared to answer questions about it, even though you just listed everything. It WILL happen.

3. Post for a few dollars more than you're willing to actually sell it for because you will get, "would you take $x.xx for it?".

4. The first person to ask you about it will probably pass.  I'm not sure why, but this is usually how it goes.

5.  A lot of people WILL meet up with you somewhere in the middle. Don't be afraid to ask.

6. Price check before you post! I get that you paid $200 for it 3 years ago, but now it's going for $125 so posting a three year old whatever for $115 just kind of defeats the purpose.  Just throwing that out there.

7. Be on time.  If you're meeting up with someone to buy or sell, be on time. Be courteous.

8. If for some reason you can't meet up at said time, let the person know in advance. I mean more in advance than 15 minutes (unless it's an emergency) because more likely than not, they're already on their way or already there and waiting.

9. Be honest about the condition something is in. Send pictures of the flaws, crayon marks, etc etc.

10. Try to be prompt in replying to people. Nothing is more frustrating (buying or selling) than waiting days for one person to reply. Especially when others are next in line waiting.

There you have it, folks.
